So, today we made it from Santa Cruz to Big Sur... 78 miles!  Mike woke up
at 5:45 a.m. sick with a cold but ready to charge.  We kept a steady pace
throughout the day and were able to keep our normal day's average.  We had a great breakfast in Aptos and were able to make it to Carmel by the Sea for lunch after a grueling hill out of Monterey.  In fact, Mike laid down
in the middle of the bike path after reaching the top of the hill.  We
checked out the surf at Carmel, but too small.  Too bad, since we had to
climb out of Carmel.  I think we hit the last of our "on the edge" of
cliffs today.  The greatest part of the day was coming down from Hurricane
Point.  Why?  There was a film shoot going on and the CHP had stopped
traffic. So, we had the entire downhill to ourselves!  Big Sur River Inn
already donated a night for us, and were gracious enough to donate another
night so we could take a day of rest tomorrow.  I think we'll get out and
surf the local beaches tomorrow on our day off.  Since there are no computers around, I asked Lauren (a local) who was working her laptop if I could jump on.  She said "no problem" so I'm able to update the day's events from her computer.  Thanks Lauren!
