Today was a day of firsts.
We left Inverness with the sun just barely cresting over the horizon. It was a beautiful morning that was traffic free, and peaceful. There was a slight breeze coming out of the Northwest, a nice change from the gale force winds of previous days.
The calm morning was in stark contrast to the rest of the day. After a great breakfast in Lagunitas, we had our first breakdown. Scott's axle bent on his trailer after he went off a curb. Mike and Laura decided to go on a head, with a plan to meet at the bridge later. After about a half an hour of tinkering with a spare axle, we decided to put his old axle on and try to bend it back straight. It worked enough to pound the wheel back on, and we were on our way.
We then commenced with our urban assault; we pedaled our way through the busy city streets of Marin, Sausilito, a crazy crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Ocean Beach, Daly City, and Pacifica. We had our first surf session of the trip in Pacifica. It was fantastic to finally get into the water. We all caught waves, on a very unforgiving day. After about an hour surf session we got back on the bikes, made a heinous ascent on Devil's Slide, Greg got a flat, changed it in record time, and descended into Montera. We are now relaxing at the Goose and Turrets B and B.
