At last, a FULL day off the bike!! We thought we would all sleep in this morning but the internal clock got to us all, except for Greg who had his two kids with internal clocks and we were all up by 6:30 this morning. Mike and Scott were itching for a good surf session and after trying to convince Greg to get out of his warm cozy bed he was sharing with his wife, they left with no Greg and biked the 4 miles to 4 mile beach to search for surf. Well, they weren't very lucky and came back to the hostel around 8:30, their hair wet not from ocean water but sweat. Poor boys….
Mike, Scott and I went for breakfast after they returned and we moseyed about downtown Santa Cruz which seems to be infested with drug addicts, weirdos and homeless all singing some hit from Bob Marley they didn't know all the words to. We then returned to the hostel to meet Greg and return to the beach for yet another check for surf. This time we found some small waves and the guys got surf session #2 in at last.
After surf, Greg left to spend some more time with his wife and adorable children and Scott, Mike and I returned downtown for a burrito and beer followed by lazy time at the hostel.
We ended the day with a good Italian meal and wine back downtown and then stuffed our face full of cookies. Can't say we worked off too many calories today but we sure took plenty in! Greg is currently down at the wharf playing video games (and his kids aren't even in town still!) I think we are all well rested for tomorrow and are looking forward to Monterey.
